I didn't really want to do a write up on this game at the time because I just wasn't in the frame of mind to bother. As I said before, I don't like to post in that frame of mind because I'll come out with a lot of hot tempered irrational stuff due to emotion of the time.
I'm still going to have a little rant though, because it gets it off my chest and allows me to move on with a more focused mind in a positive sense rather than dwelling on any potential doom that may be anything but in time.
Anyway, what pissed me off was the way we just allowed Chelsea to cut through us. It was as if we were scared - and we were - in a way.
What was more worrying was the fact that it appeared that too many players were looking to other's to bail them out. It was as if they were hiding in plain sight.
Chelsea must have wondered why they'd even bothered to train for the game.
Some players grafted but too few to have any impact.
I'm so sick of watching games like this that I literally have to keep convincing myself it's just a one off, again and again and again. If I didn't, would be rocking whilst looking into thin air.
I really want to run into the dressing room and launch a tirade of abuse at the players and manager. I want to shout out that they don't realise how lucky they are playing football for a club like this and earning sickening amounts of money for the privilege of playing 90 plus minutes a week; sometimes twice weekly in a super stadium in front of arguably the best fans in the country and yet many of those fans travel to places like Chelsea, at great expense to hope to see their football team play their hearts out.
What do we get?
We get players who just don't fancy it at times.
I hope Chelsea use this game as a yardstick for their season because they will fall like skittles if they think they were in a game with a football team.
McClaren has 16 days to get this team sorted out tactically and mentally. He needs to be strong and weed out those who are on idle or are not mentally strong enough to battle.
We appear to have players that believe they are immune to being dropped. Wijnaldum and Sissoko spring to mind. They need to up their game or drop them and put in those who are willing to fight for the cause at both ends.
We got what we deserved because we simply turned up like a bunch of undisciplined kids against a team that should have been got at from the off to unsettle them.
Mitrovic might not be scoring but if we had a team full of his mentality we would be nearer the top.
Anyway we have 16 days and then a game that will show us where we are headed. UP or DOWN?
I sincerely hope that we go to Stoke and kick start our season.
