This is excellent news. He signs 3 year contract with a get out clause for relegation, which was to be expected I suppose. I think we've just gave ourselves a stay of execution. I do not think we will get relegated under him as he will get the best out of the players, especially with his pedigree, plus his own staff in. I'm so glad McClaren was sacked and I would have literally taken almost anyone over him in the short term, but to get Rafa, is a major coup and a sign that this club is serious about progressing. They've made many mistakes and didn't appear top learn from them - or very little. I think this might be the massive wake up call that Ashley and co needed. First things first for Rafa. Get to know the players; assess them and get them focused on Leicester to get us 3 points or at least a point for starters. I'd like to see how many players actually start miraculously mending from that treatment table, but regardless of that, I'd like to see him get us 4 wins as a minimum and maybe 2 draws, because that's all we will need to avoid relegation in my opinion. Let's see if he can hit the ground running. My fingers and toes are crossed and I'm praying to lady luck and all invisible potentials that can give Newcastle united a leg up to start a new Toon revolution. Rafa seems excited to get started, so let's DO THIS.

Great news indeed. A managerial appointment at Newcastle that doesn't make you put you're head in your hands- I'm struggling to remember the last time I experienced this. Unfortunately I honestly believe this is just too late. I hope I'm wrong but we've won 6 games all season getting a minimum of four from the last eleven seems a bit optimistic. I seriously hope Rafa can work miracles

You were awesome under him first time round; I'm not even Toon & I remember that! & what about Bobby Robson? Okay he was old but he wasn't exactly shit or a foreign mercenary, was he? Toon's problems have always stemmed from the owners; all my Geordie mates have said so for years. So don't get onto the players or the managers, go straight to the top. There's more than one way to make money from footy you know; like, what were the odds on Chelsea beating you 5-1? Now watch the game & see how you let em just walk right through you... & that's not the 1st time you've played so inexplicably shite this season either. Yeah, I may sound cynical but I'm also not fecking blind! Just think on it, eh?
