I don't know whether to laugh or cry. I had no heart to post on here; even after the Swansea game. Talk about a bunch of players zapping the life out of me.
I was tempted to have a write up on the 3-0 win against Swansea but then I thought,"nah", because I had this horrible feeling that we would be a one game wonder then resort back to the usual no heart, no desire, no guts, no loyalty to the Newcastle United cause.
The Man City game was one game that I was tempted not to watch. I wanted to dine out on the 3-0 home win against Swansea, because if nothing else, it did give me a sort of feel-good factor.
I hoped that Man City would come and play below par, whilst we somehow carried on where we left off against Swansea and either get something from the game or at least don't destroy our goal difference.
How pleased was I that we came away with a draw and possibly could have sneaked a win. However, I'm not going to pass up a draw, because that draw could actually be the difference, come the end of the season. You never know.
I was disappointed with Aguero's goal being allowed when it was clearly offside, but what's the point in whining - we won't get it changed.
2 games played and 4 points gained.
What I was particularly happy with was the fact that we literally played as a team. We actually looked like a decent footballing side.
Man City might not have played at full pelt or to their normal standards but that was as much down to how well we played to stop them and battle all the way.
Rafa Benitez has to take massive plaudits for the way he's drilling this team and picking the players that he knows can implement that drill. He's our new drill sergeant who has managed to get this group of under-performing, lazy, gutless players to actually look like they give a feck - and that takes a magician.
The time is not now to believe we can escape relegation, because we have Liverpool away and we need that same attitude and team-work to make sure we can get something from the game or at the very worst, keep the goal difference sensible.
We also have to hope that Arsenal beat Sunderland at the SOL, because Arsenal have a big say for us, as they also play Norwich a week later.
I'll tell you one thing for sure. I've warmed to Rafa and can actually see what he's done in such a short time. The killer would be to lose him if we get relegated.
I just hope that - if we do get relegated, then he stays, along with whatever players he deems fit for purpose to get us back up at the first attempt and then to go on a premier league assault for the top, in a Benitez wonderland.
If we do stay up, I sincerely hope that he's given the funds to put his own stamp on this team, because if that happens, we will know that it truly will be his own stamp and it will give us a very realistic chance of actually giving these top teams a bloody nose and an attitude from everyone associated with Newcastle United to say, "we're back."
Hopes and dreams it may be but it is there and is possible, either way.
Fingers crossed we can finally become a football club that the fans deserve and opposition teams, fear.
As it stands right now - we have a football team and the operative word is "TEAM."
By hook or by crook. By lady luck or a referees book. By the power of grey-skull, let it all shine on us. Let us be the team that comes out on top of that relegation pile, to live to fight another season in the prem.
My hope is heightened and My optimism has moved up a tiny notch.
Fingers and toes crossed.
